Molyneux Educare is a Community based early learning centre that provides a unique learning environment for children. Molyneux Educare will provide a supportive atmosphere where children, teachers and parents and Whānau come together to discover and grow. We are an incorporated society and the centre is governed by a Committee made up of parents. Management is made up of the Centre Manager and the teaching team.
Molyneux Educare is a space for education, exploration, development, nurturing and FUN!
Molyneux Educare is a welcoming home away from home for our tamariki, kaiako and whānau, representing love, respect and growth. Strong in celebrating all tamariki as unique and curious, whilst also striving to nurture individual whānau aspirations within our centre community.
We celebrate our tamariki as exceptional, and through the art of child led learning and observation we engage and enable all tamariki to extend their knowledge and to embrace their passions while truly gaining essential life skills in a relevant and fun way.
Our approach and curriculum support tamariki to drive and set the pace for their own learning, to develop, explore and investigate according to their individual interests while also providing collaboration opportunities for growth within group interests.
We value ourselves on providing a home away from home for our tamariki and their whanāu. Warmth, love and nurturing are woven through our philosophy ensuring that tamariki have the opportunity to develop strong relationships nestled with people and nature.
Our uniquely holistic approach to early childhood education is built on a philosophy of child-centred learning through play that embraces the great outdoors.
Our infant classroom (Atawhai) is based upon the philosophies of RIE/Pikler and the primary care approach. Learning and teaching practices in our over two classroom (Whetu) is inspired by RIE/Pikler and Reggio Emilia. The programme is based on the principles of respect, responsibility and community through exploration, discovery and play.
Our Kaiako strongly support this belief and are committed to helping children reach their fullest potential. As competent learners, children at Molyneux are invited to work with real materials such as loose parts, carpentry tools, and everyday household utensils. There is a strong emphasis on making home and school connections.
At Molyneux Educare, we foster the innate tendency of tamariki to seek connections with nature and other forms of life. This happens through taking learning out of the classroom, re-introducing the outdoors whilst enhancing all areas of their development through a natural discovery approach. We value the environment as a third teacher or an environmental steward. The tamariki enjoy the freedom of leading their own learning, exploring and discovering uninhibited in our environment. Children learn most effectively when they are connecting deeply with nature through play experiences. This is about creating interactions with people and the places where they play, learning to care for nature and the world in which we live.
The concept of sustainability is introduced through experiential learning. Being outdoors in a natural setting enables children to develop a connection with the natural world that can lead to long-term environmental awareness and understanding as well as positive outcomes for their developing views of the world.
